Cognitive biases are defined as our deviations from rationality. If left unchecked, these biases may derail clinicians into medical errors. Numerous cognitive biases have been described, but the common ones in clinical practice are discussed below.

Note: the words "cognitive bias" or "cognitive biases" are used inter-changeably with the words "cognitive error" or "cognitive errors".
