This is an excellent introductory video on the impact of cognitive errors or cognitive biases in our clinical decision making.

While minimizing cognitive errors is no easy task, pay close attention to 2 particular tips that the authors advocate:

• The rule of 3 diagnostic strategy - explicitly think of 3 alternative diagnoses even if the provisional diagnosis seems convincingly plausible
• 10 seconds for 10 minutes - taking a pause (10 seconds) to re-assess our decisions
